Stamp Collector's Temerity!!!

There were some fanatic set of stamp collectors, who were aggressively promoting stamp collection as a divine pass time.These well renowned stamp collectors where allowed into the house of lords/senate for no reason other than that they where well renowned stamp collectors, stamp collecting was taught in schools, broadcasters where forced by law to make and broadcast programmes about stamp collecting and stamp collectors started knocking on every home's door in an attempt to harass everyone into collecting stamps, and also named all those who did not collect stamps as "inphilatil"!It did not stop there...they even issued philatwa against Sal(wo)man Slowlife for writing "The philatelic nonsense"!Poor slowlife has now got a hectic life thanks to philatullahs' philatwa.They were hell bent on waging philhad against those opposing their sensible proposition of philadise (to those who became philatyr) full of exotic stamps and with 72.5 porn stars for company(Sasha Gray,Tori Lane and Jenna Jameson to boot)!Those who supported them said that philatelism is the most peaceful of all passtime and caused apparently no harm to anyone...Soon an enthusiastic motley crowd of non-stamp collectors gathered to tell, "Well a stamp is a stamp"! and decided that to start a non-belief gathering of stamp collectors is not only essential, but absolutely necessary....

It's been a while that I started writing a blog.Again it is to do with my lack of drive to write a blog every week than on any dearth of topics.It was an eventful week,Sensex crashing,India's win in T20,Chirnajeevi's daughter eloping...and on a private note,Metrozone's show flat seem to be ready for opening.

In all this,I somehow felt the incident involving Symonds at Vadodra and Mumbai needs special mention here.It is not always that Indians are accused of racism.In fact it comes as surprise that inspite of our "cultural heritage" preventing us from indulging in such despicable acts, "racist" tag seem to be attached to us.

No matter how hard it may sound,it is true.As someone(sorry could not remember the person's name) mentioned in the columns of The Hindu that there are multiple layers of racism in India intertwined in the name of caste,religion and creed,that we are too tired to notice them.Probably that is the reason why we as a nation overreacted to misdemeanour on Shilpa Shetty on the sets of 'Big Brother'.Although our collective consciousness did not even cause a faint ripple,let alone be stirred when our farmers committed suicide or when dalits are oppressed on a day to day basis.

I must admit that for over few millenia our society has accepted such acts on our brethren,that it has gradually got acclimatised in our social system.That's why a colored Australian was singled out for such racist slur.It is bit deep rooted in our medieval mindset.Personally I have witnessed Africans being jeered at by our countrymen...who themselves were not fairness personified.

Just look at those ads on face creams,which often promise you of fair skin,a dubious claim,and still do good business inspite of this.As per one of the market survey conducted by Business Line:
"Of the Rs 3,000-crore cosmetics and toiletries industry, the market size of the skin-care segment alone is estimated at Rs 1,200 crore."

Perhaps this almost fetish like obsession with fairness,again due to our cultural lineage,is making us racist.

Mozhi-Mind Blowing

Yeah my blog about this film may be a touch too late in the day, considering that Mozhi has completed 100 days and has already shown in Kalaigner TV.There is nothing more I can write or review about.But definitely I can write about those moments which has impressed me and words of appreciation for the entire crew and artistes.

It is not often that that you come across movies with this refreshing theme and treatment from tamil movie makers.Being prone to male chauvinism and feudal mindset,this movie is sophisticated and urbane enough to catch your attention on many such small details that Radha Mohan needs more than a mere pat on his back.

The strange(for tamil audiences in general) thing that catches you by surprise is how the male protagonist falls for a girl who shows remarkable courage by beating a drunken man on the streets.To top it all she is mute and least ashamed of her disability.

The other aspect which makes this movie different is its humor content, of being tongue in cheek and having genuine wit and sarcasm.Particularly Prakash Raj's witty remarks on the benefits of pundu (garlic) in an inebriated state.And his "romantic interludes" with Swarnamalya at the fag end and how one can test him on he being a CBI officer.

And the characters all have a vulnerability which makes them life like....

There are quite a few emotionally overwhelming moments as opposed to scenes which are too obvious for me to elaborate here.

One of all time best of tamil movies.

My First Post

Just started this blog to unwind and express my opinions on virtually everything under the sky.Earlier my attempts in this exercise did not progress much...lethargy and procrastination made my blog http://www.keralathilsanju.blogspot.com/ inactive.

As Billy Joel that famous pervert on net quips "if your blog is not updated within a week,it is as good as dead you a@#&^!". By his rule my previous blog is dead many times over.

This is wishing myself good luck for a successful run at least in this attempt.
